Havent Posted in a bit

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile Internet hasn't been working very well at the house lately. the post today is just a short one as it is my birthday and i am going to relax with my glass of wine, curl up to my Christopher and enjoy the quiet moment  of a baby.... well i was going to say sleeping  but he just woke up. So this post is shorter then i expected.

Baby Food

I've decided that I want to make all of Kolton's baby food. I decided this for a few reasons; first there is a lot of salt in the baby food, second I thought it would be cheaper and third reason I thought it would be easy. Making the baby food isn't hard but it is hard to find the time and well some times the energy to make it.  Last night was baby food making night, I made pears, apples, carrots, peas and mixed veggies. I hope Kolton enjoys them.

Kolton is not a fan of the pears so far. he decided to spit them at me today. We will have to try pears again tomorrow.

1. Do you decorate for Valentine’s day?
Not at home but when I was working I used to decorate the centre.

2. Does your desktop have a picture or computer graphic? Is it organized?
My desktop does not have a picture because the windows starter 7 doesnt let you so I am stuck with the backround it came with.  Yes my desktop is very organized, only 5 icons and one folder which is labled "to be developed"

3. Do you use a paper planner, electric planner or no planner at all?
I try  to use a planner but I never stick with it  so no planner.

4. Do you change purses or bags often or stick with a good thing?
I use a diaper bag. Never really used a purse.

6. Do you use Turbo Tax or a real person to pay your taxes?
I get a person to do my taxes. I tried one year to do them myself and just never ended up doing them so I thought it was a good idea to have someone do them for me.

7. How many states have you set foot (or tire) in? Which ones?
Navada, Oklahoma, California so three

8. How many countries have you been in? Which ones?Two countries Canada and the USA

9. How many pillows are in your house? (Sleeping or decorative)
20 pillows. 9 of those are on my bed.

10. How cold is too cold for flip flops?
Its never to cold for flip flops.

Busy day

          Every Monday Kolton and I do the same thing, we go to baby talk at 10:30am. we have been going since Kolton was 2 weeks old. Because we go to baby talk I try to make Mondays my busy day. Today was a busy day we first dropped Christopher off at work then went to my work to do book orders.  I work for a catholic school as a preschool teacher. I'm currently on maternity leave. I still have to decide if I am going back to work come September. The decision isn't as easy as just saying yes or no, the school has told me that I have to be married in order to return to my job.
         Then we  went to baby talk, the topic today was toys and baby equipment. not one of the more use full talks, we talked about stuff that was banned or recalled but not much information it was more of a chat today.  I don't really go for the topics anyway. I find it just gives me an opportunity to connect with other moms. which i have I've met two moms that I really enjoy meeting up with Susan and Becky the both have very cute little girls.
        Next on the list was lunch with Poppy (grandpa) and Grandma, lunch is always fun with them.  After that we visited a friend to kill time till the doctors.
       Kolton had his 6 month check up today! he is off the charts in head growth  and off the charts with his height now 2.5 feet. I asked the doctor if that meant he was going to be taller than his mama by the time he is 4? the doctor just laughed at me. all in all the appointment went well but we are going to see a pediatrician. i want to get his breathing checked he always sounds very congested.
        the last thing we had to do today was go to walmart and get more kitty litter. my boy was such a big boy sitting in the chart!

Well thats was a bit of my little boy. I happen to think he is pretty cute! Maybe we will start sleeping through the night? well a mother can hope.

sleep or no sleep

I was out scrapbooking lastnight and left the baby and daddy at home alone. I really enjoy going out but for some reason the baby just would not go to sleep for his daddy. I walked in the door to a baby that  was crying and Christopher saying hes done everything like we normally do.  So I took the baby and within 5 mins the baby was asleep in my arms. I wonder if we were just gon a bit to long and he is used to mommy being the one to put him to bed?

Lastnight was a bad night in terms of sleeping.  Kolton has great night sleeps normally. He generally goes to bed at 9pm and sleeps till 5-6am, but lastnight the baby woke up every hour and a half till 6am then it was every 20mins. So we cuddled on the couch and the baby fell asleep till 8am to bad i wasnt able to catch a nap too.

Home and the Puppy

Well we are home and boy its great to be home! Kolton is finally sleeping through the night yay!!  we got home tuesday morning and my  poor boy had to have 2 shots his 6 month shot and his flu shot.  since his flu shot he has been very cranky and spitting up a lot. i assume its from the shot but im starting to think maybe its from teething too. everything feels like a guessing game. 
although he has been cranky he is still having a blast playing with his christmas presents that he had to leave at home when we went to Edmonton.

the other day  we went to a friends place who just go a new puppy. the puppy is so cute! we had the baby sitting on the floor and the puppy kept growling anf barking at kolton, it was the puppy's first encounter with a baby. Kolton was great about still smiling and grabbing at the puppy. My little man loves animals. it made me want a puppy so badly!

Catch up

So its been a few days since the last time i posted. its been a busy few days. Kolton and I are back in Victoria, but i will get back to that later. lets recap the last few days in Edmonton.

Sunday I spent the day with Destiny, I went over in my PJ's it was like we were 15 again. spending the entire day in our PJ's then putting make up on it was great!

we also had a lot of fun making Oreo cookie balls with the two girls.

Oreo cookie balls

what you  need: 1 package of Oreo cookies

8oz of soften cream cheese

1 pound dark chocolate

how ya do it: put the entire package of Oreo cookies in the food processor

grind the cookies till they are crumbs

mix the crumbs with the cream cheese and chill for and hour

melt the dark chocolate using the double boiler

once chocolate is melted roll the balls through the chocolate

chill in the fridge until harden.

i added icing sugar for a little extra something.

to some up an awesome day we finally got to go to Ice on Whyte.  we walked there and quickly realized we were walking the wrong way. good thing we didn't go very far.

my favorite sculpture was the woman looking it the mirror. and you  can actually see her reflection. the giant slide was pretty fun too destiny and i slide down twice and both time we giggled the entire 3 seconds it took to get to the bottom.  the event was pretty cool i anticipated it bigger but it was still fun.

 

Monday - my last day in Edmonton!

 i spent the day packing. you  would think that packing one suit case wouldn't be a problem. well for me it was, I couldn't get everything into it for one and then to top it off it was over weight. so after lots of repacking i ended up leaving stuff behind including my blanket. the biggest piss off about it was the airline never weight my bag. 

the evening i spent at the grand parents house we had pizza, watched home videos and had a nice visit. 

Tuesday we flew home. The baby was fantastic on the plane! he flirted with the flight attendant before we boarded. once we boarded the plane the baby had his bottle and was asleep before the plane took off. he slept all but the last 15 mins of the flight where he put his hand on the window and watched us land. it was super cute!   we got off the plane and hurried to see Daddy and grandma. grandma very quickly got Kolton and Christopher gave me a very huge long hug we missed each other so much and i am glad we are back home.

Meal Planing

I thought I would try and save some money by meal planing. Ive meal planned before but only for a week this time im doing it for and entire month. I wonder if we can stick to it. I made a huge list of stuff we have to buy as well as a list of meals from Jan 18 to Feb 17. wish me luck!

My other new thing I wanted to try  and do  was a new recipe a week. I told Christopher he had to pick 2 and I would pick 2. the 4 recipes we are going to try are: 1. Creamy Chicken Soup 2. Cheese Burger Pie 3. Beef Soup 4. Beef Stroganoff.  I'll let you  know how they go.

Today I was supposed to go to winter on whyte but its been moved to tomorrow. So kolton gramma and I are going to have a much needed relaxing day at home

6 months already

6 months ago this little boy changed my  life! I cant believe its been 6 months already.  since Kolton is 6 months old now i thought i would do a "6 things to know about Kolton"

1. He has two words "Daddy" and "Hi"
2. He get so mad when he wants food
3. He is such a grunter
4. He is trying so hard to crawl. so far he can push him self up either front end of the back end not both at the same time.
5. His smile lights up the room
6. He loves animals

on another note I'm excited for my  last few days in Edmonton, we have so much planned. Tonight we are going to Destiny's house and having donairs (homemade, i got the recipe from Christopher's brother) yummy!!!
Saturday we are going the "winter on whyte" I cant wait Kolton is going to spend the day with Gramma.
Sunday I'm getting my  hair done and spending the day with Destiny, again Kolton having a day with his Gramma.
Monday we are having pizza and visiting the great grandparents.
Tuesday  Kolton and I fly  home!!!! \

I've enjoyed my time in Edmonton and Kolton got to spend time with his family which  has been great! It will be fun to scrapbook about it all and Kolton will get to have those memories forever.

My time in Calgary

December 24th  I surprised Christopher (my boyfriend) with a trip home to Edmonton.6 hours after he opened his present we were sitting on a plane.  He went home December 31st and Kolton and I stayed we wont be going back until January 18th. This is the first time I've been away  from Christopher for so long I missing him like crazy!

This weekend Kolton, Loralie (Christopher's mom) and I travelled to Calgary  to visit Stephen (Christopher's brother) and Angela. Its been a blast from ridiculous waffles with whipped cream, sprinkles and candles to driving to  the other end of the city for scrap booking materials. its been a fun trip well worth Kolton getting to spend time with his aunt and uncle. 

Its so much fun to watch other people with Kolton. and its amazing to see so much love beam from a baby. i know babies are lovable but i never knew you could see the love pour out of them.  Kolton LOVES his uncle Stephen. maybe its because uncle Stephen holds him upside down or flops him around ... I guess it because uncles are fun.

We say goodbye tomorrow to uncle Stephen and Auntie Angela  until the summer as we are going back to Edmonton tomorrow provided the weather let us. thanks weather for the extra day in Calgary! it was awesome.  Back to Gramma's we go!

Angela Has Convinced Me To Blog

S0 after small encouragement from Angela I gave in and decided to blog.
July 12, 2010 my life changed in an amazing way I had a beautiful baby boy  Kolton.  He is now almost six months. he is the best thing that  has ever happened to me.  I’m 24 years old and i live in victoria BC.  I live with my  partner Christopher. Kolton looks  just like his daddy!
